Judy Bloom fans will be familiar with teenagers competing to be the first to ride the crest of a crimson wave.

Now that’s been turned into an ad for US company HelloFLo, starring a bratty tween using nail polish to fake her first period. 

But when her mother catches her out in the lie, any teenager’s worst nightmare comes true – a First Moon party complete with vagina cakes, bobbing for ovaries and a game of “pin the pad on the period”.
