Brown’s recovery from concussion going slowly

PHILADELPHIA — The news about Domonic Brown’s head injury just keeps getting worse.

Brown sustained concussion-like symptoms after diving for a fly ball last Tuesday in St. Louis. The left fielder originally thought it would sideline him for a few games, but then Brown was placed on the seven-day disabled list.

A week after the injury, however, it does not seem like Brown is much closer to getting back on the field.

“It’s going to be a little while. I think it’s probably going to be another week,” manager Charlie Manuel said.

Brown is going to undergo more concussion tests Wednesday, according to Manuel. The All-Star was not in the clubhouse or on the field before the Phillies’ series opener against the Giants on Tuesday.

Before the injury, Brown was hitting .271 with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs. The Phillies entered Tuesday on an eight-game losing streak and had scored a total of nine runs in the five games Brown had missed in the last week.
