Aubrey Baumbach is continuing along her road to recovery after being critically injured in a November 2013 hit-and-run accident.
According to a post published Thursday by her parents on a Facebook page chronicling her progress, “On Friday, [Aubrey's occupational therapist] asked her if she knew where she was. She wrote, SPAULDING. And when asked if she knew what Spaulding was, she wrote, HOSPITAL.”
The post also notes the family’s excitement when Aubrey managed to stand with assistance from some parallel bars.
“We were elated and I’m sure cheering could be heard outside the building!” Aubrey’s parents wrote.
Baumbach was hit by a car Nov. 8 on Lehigh Street in Easton as she was leaving rowing practice.
She was a student at Lafayette College.
Her parents post regular updates on her progress on a Facebook page called “Aubrey’s Courageous Journey.”
“Incredibly, Aubs has retained her sense of humor, frequently smiling and even laughing with us at various situations, stories, and jokes…if they’re good enough, that is,” they wrote on Thursday.
Wilson David Kneebone, of the 6200 block of Fifth Ave. in the Martins Creek section of Lower Mount Bethel Township, was taken into custody about 24 hours after police say he left the scene of the crash that severely injured Baumbach.
Kneebone waived his preliminary hearing March 11.
