After breaking his nose, the NBA’s best player was forced to strap on a protective mask for the Miami Heat’s Feb. 27 game against the New York Knicks. The extra face-gear ended up being the gift that kept on giving, as Twitter users got creative with it and made funny comparisons to Batman, ‘American Horror Story,’ and more!
Just when we all thought LeBron James couldn’t get more intimidating, the four-time MVP put on a menacing black mask to protect his broken nose in the game against the New York Knicks on Feb. 27, and with that, he became the NBA’s very own version of the caped crusader.
LeBron James’ Mask Turns Into An Internet Meme
It didn’t take long for the internet to blow up after LBJ made his masked debut, and the general consensus was that he looked like Batman in a pair of basketball shorts. Fans matched up pics of LeBron with scenes from the Batman movies to hilarious effect, such as a split-screen of LeBron from his time as a Cleveland Cavalier and the masked LeBron with the caption, “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
People from Cleveland have been saying that about LeBron for years though.
LeBron’s teammate Chris Bosh even got in on the Batman trend after the game, putting on the mask and making an impromptu cape out of a towel. The NBA jokester captioned his photo, “I’m BATMAN!!!!!!!! #lebronsmask
#darkknightrises #wheresalfred.”
Some of our other favorite memes that sprouted from the mask was one that compared LeBron to the gimp from Pulp Fiction, another that dubbed him Indigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, and finally, the ones that made Jim Carrey The Mask jokes.
This really was social media at best. So HollywoodLifers, who do you think LeBron looked most like? Let the jokes fly in the comments below!
