As the first month of 2014 concludes, the biggest national news story (beyond Chris Christie’s Bridgegate fiasco) has been the unexpected arrival of a polar vortex, which forced hundreds of newbie and seasoned weather reporters into the frozen tundra from Babbitt, Minnesota to Brasstown Bald, Georgia. And while their reporting efforts meant we stayed warm (and informed), there were plenty of bloopers for the folks at NewsBeFunny to lampoon.

Unlike our last recap – which highlighted blitzed college girls, anchors drawing penises and people saying “fuck” on live TV – Funny‘s first installment of the New Year takes the shenannigans to the next level. “I have no words, except for we’re going to be on YouTube in a few minutes,” says Fox News weatherwoman Janice Dean. And that’s just the start. Fast forward to 3:44 and watch a mountain lion stalk (and engage) an oblivious achor. Or try 6:00, where Kevin Hart blows up a FOX Atlanta affiliate with his Ride Along hijinks.

But to get a real feel for modern American programming, jump ahead to 6:41. There you’ll find MSNBC coorespondnent Andrea Mitchell, who interrupts former Congresswoman Jane Harmon’s recommendation that the NSA discontinue their practice of collecting phone records to pipe-in live video footage of Justin Bieber’s bond hearing last Thursday. We’re left only with our inner Will McAvoy, who asks, “Continue an intelligent discussion about civil liberties or satisfy the beliebers?” Which is the right choice?
