This mom in disguise is one the creepiest — or funniest — parts of the latest Old Spice commercial. The Super Bowl 2014 commercials are weeks away, but one advertising campaign is already gunning for the chance to be among the most talked-about new spots.

Old Spice‘s new “Mom Song” ad aired during the AFC Wild Card game on Sunday, prompting immediate reaction on social media. The clip shows mothers singing a freaky, funny song about how their boys are becoming men, thanks to the brand’s deodorant and body spray.

“I didn’t see it coming but it came in a can, my sweet son sprayed into a man,” one weeping mother laments as her child heads out on a date.

New Old Spice commercial: Creepy or funny?

The mom-creeping gets even weirder, as one’s head pops up in the rear-view mirror while she hangs onto the back of the car, like the T-1000 in “Terminator 2.” Another appears in a backwards disguise as a school cafeteria janitor, whose grown-up Chucky-looking face will haunt your dreams forever.

“Smellcome to Manhood,” the video concludes, displaying a line of Old Spice Re-Fresh Body Sprays.

The 60-second clip on YouTube has quickly generated more than one million views, with comments ranging from “hilarious” to “caaaaa reeeeeepy.”

“Watched this at home… alone… now I’m terrified,” one user wrote.

“Hahahahaa funniest commercial I’ve seen in while,” another added.

Until recently, Old Spice had been best known for using hunky spokesmen like original “Old Spice Guy” Isaiah Mustafa and actor Terry Crews in their ads. Even Fabio challenged Mustafa for the job in 2011.

But Crews, who currently stars on the Andy Samberg sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” told NBC he’s a fan of the new direction the company is taking.

“I loved it!” he said. “Nothing says mother’s love like your mom clutching your car’s rear bumper when you try to leave. Happened to me when I left for college!”

What do you think? Is it hilarious or scary? Leave a comment below.
