A lot of lists/surveys/polls get sent our way, and we possibly publish more of them than we should … but a new one has caught our attention – The 50 Funniest Cities in America – because Portland came in a ways down the list* and we thought that was funny.
Granted, sometimes we laugh when we think of Portland, but that’s different. And while someone will point to the television series “Portlandia” as evidence of how funny Portland is, we’ll just say, “Being laughed at isn’t the same as being funny” and “‘Portlandia’ was co-created by a Seattleite” …
Curious to discover what lies behind our sister Northwest city’s failure to be funny, we put on our journalism caps and started cruising the Internet and found some answers (with the help of commenters on our Facebook page).
Check out the gallery above for the list of reasons Portland isn’t a funny city.
*Editor’s note: Seattle came in at No. 7 and Portland … No. 18. OK, not exactly a bad showing among the 50 funniest cities, but we’re not giving Portland any slack.
