Katie Holmes certainly gave rubber-face comedian Jim Carrey some competition in the funny looks department.
The 35-year-old actress screwed up her pretty features to feign a mask of indescribable proportions soon after arriving to the 2nd Annual Lexus Short Films Life is Amazing premiere in New York on Wednesday.
Of course it was all in the course of fun for Katie, who was pictured with her eyes droopingly rolled back, her cheeks sucked in and her mouth protruding in a pout.

Sheer wonder: Katie Holmes dazzled in a partially see-through ensemble at the Life Is Amazing short films premiere in New York on Wednesday
Once the moment passed, Katie’s face eventually assumed its girlish composure as she continued down the red carpet in an all-black ensemble that allowed glimpses of her narrow waist and sculpted abs.
Her black blouse was a dreamy, off-the-shoulder creation with ruffles and lots of floaty material, matched with a pair of black tuxedo trousers.
Purple pebbled heels and a classy updo completed Katie’s evening attire at the event, which was held at the SVA Theatre.
Hey, rubber face: The actress showed her sense of humour by making a funny face for the cameras while strolling the red carpet
Graceful: Katie assumed a more graceful pose while showing off more of that billowy ruffled blouse with the one sloping sleeve
Glamorous: The 35-year-old star displayed some back and more of that classy updo

The short films follow two emerging filmmakers as they learn the craft among experienced film industry members including Katie, and directors Justin Chadwick, Simon Curtis, Antoine Fuqua and Philip Noyce.
Katie rolled up her sleeves to show Jon Goldman, Satsuki Okawa and script writer Ken Ochiai how the process of movie-making works, offering lots of support and guidance along the way.
The featurettes will be screened in theatres playing Holmes’ new movie The Giver, which has a US release date of August 15.
She’s got the look: Funny faces over, Katie assumed a look of composure
Inspiration: Jim Carrey has made a career and a fortune out of his pocketful of silly faces as seen here at an awards show in 2004
Keeps on giving: Katie has been a whirlwind of promotion for her new film The Giver, due out in US theatres on August 15, but appeared as fresh-faced and clear-eyed as ever
Katie has been on a roll lately herself while promoting the sci-fi drama The Giver on both radio and television.
The former Mrs Tom Cruise settled herself into the hot seat to chat with Today host Matt Lauer earlier on Wednesday and opened up on how she strives to give eight-year-old daughter Suri the kind of normalcy she had growing up in Toledo, Ohio.
‘Of course, you try your best,’ Katie confessed to Lauer. ‘I try very hard because I am very grateful for my upbringing and my parents and siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one.’
Trying her best: The former Mrs. Tom Cruise said that she strives to give daughter Suri the life she had as a youngster growing up in Ohio
Glee-ful couple: Matthew Morrison looked snappy in a silky grey suit while fiancée Renee Puente dazzled in a black jumpsuit
Katie, who has three older sisters and a brother, added: ‘The most important thing for me is letting [Suri] know how proud I am, and that her accomplishments mean everything.
‘Whatever I do is whatever. It’s really just about her and that’s what I think is the most important.’
Katie was wed to Tom Cruise for six years until their split in 2012, after which she moved to New York City with Suri and started a new life.
Lightening up: Actress Jessica Clark amazed in a clingy white frock and blue-accented heels
‘I never really look back,’ she insisted. ‘I always just approach life. I take it one day at a time, I’m really excited about where I am right now. I’ve had some really creative experiences. I’m just excited about the future.’
Meanwhile, others who showed up to the Life Is Amazing short films premiere included Glee star Matthew Morrison and his fiancée Renee Puente.
While Matthew looked gorgeous in a silky grey suit and tieless white dress shirt, Renee amazed in a slinky black jumpsuit featuring sheer embroidered details in front.
Actress Jessica Clark stood out like a light in a white frock with bronze detail in the front and blue-accented heels.
